Trump Calls Family of Man Who Died During Assassination Attempt

(UnitedVoice.com) – Former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt on Saturday, July 13. He suffered an injury to his ear. Two others suffered critical injuries in the attack, and one died. The widow of the man who died has now confirmed the former POTUS reached out to her.

Corey Comperatore, 50, lost his life at the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. He was with family when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks allegedly shot at the former president from an elevated position outside of the Secret Service’s security perimeter. Comperatore, a retired fire chief, dove to protect his loved ones when the gunfire erupted. Sadly, he was hit and killed.

Helen Comperatore spoke to the New York Post on Monday and said she refused a phone call from President Joe Biden. She said she doesn’t “have any ill will towards Joe Biden” because she doesn’t get involved in politics. However, she explained that her husband supported Trump and he wouldn’t have wanted her to speak to him. At the time, she also revealed the former president had not contacted her.

The media jumped on the story and painted Trump as uncaring. The next day, Mrs. Comperatore said the Republican nominee contacted her. She said Trump “was very kind” and told her he would call her in the following days.

The widow said she told Trump that her husband “left this world a hero, and God welcomed him in.”

Kelly Comperatore Meeder, the victim’s sister, also confirmed the Republican nominee reached out to the family. She said that the Trump campaign representatives contacted them on Monday night. Unlike her brother’s widow, she does hold Biden responsible. The New York Times reported that she blamed the president and the media for creating the divisive political environment. She said the media was “very much responsible” because they have depicted Trump and his fans badly.

Comperatore is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a loving family.
