Dem Rep Slams Media for Going Easy on Hamas

(UnitedVoice.com) – President Joe Biden has taken a tremendous amount of heat from his party over the US’ support of Israel. There’s even a movement by Democrats in Chicago to have the Democratic National Convention canceled this summer. One lawmaker on the Left is calling out the media for allegedly being soft on Hamas.

On April 3, Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA), the ranking member on the House Armed Services Committee, appeared on NewsNation’s “The Hill.” He slammed the media for not doing its job and highlighting the atrocious crimes Hamas is committing in Gaza. The terrorist organization is responsible for the October 7 attack on Israel that claimed more than 1,100 lives, many of them young people.

The terrorist group has also been accused of killing babies, raping women, and using people as human shields. Hamas has even prevented a ceasefire. Smith explained that if the terrorist group faced more pressure, he thinks it would get them “to a ceasefire and peace more quickly.”

Smith also said there’s a humanitarian crisis taking place in Gaza, and that hasn’t been addressed. He said the images on the ground in Gaza are “undermining support for Israel,” and that also needs to be addressed. Further, the Jewish State needs to be able to stop threats from Iran and Hezbollah.

NewsNation host Blake Burman asked the congressman if he thought the Democratic Party should be delivering the message about Israel protecting itself and Hamas. The host explained that while the world has seen what’s happening, it appears that people have forgotten the reason it started was because of the terrorist attack that killed so many people. Not to mention that Hamas is still holding hostages, including Americans.

Smith said the media is focused on the ceasefire, and he explained Hamas is the biggest roadblock in that regard. Again, the congressman said that if people want a ceasefire, then they need to “put pressure on Hamas.”
