Former Rival Announces Trump Endorsement

( – Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley was one of former President Donald Trump’s most persistent opponents in the GOP primary. She refused to drop out of the race for months and didn’t endorse him right away, saying she didn’t feel the need to kiss his ring. That has now changed.

On May 22, Haley attended an event at the Hudson Institute in Washington, DC, her first since she dropped out of the presidential race in March. Speaking at the event, she explained her priorities as an American voter were supporting a candidate who was going to push for “capitalism and freedom,” hold its enemies accountable, lower the national debt, and secure the southwest border.

Haley said, “Trump has not been perfect on these policies.” However, she told attendees that President Joe “Biden has been a catastrophe.”

“So I will be voting for Trump,” Haley declared.

The former US ambassador under Trump said that her ex-boss was going to have to reach out to the millions of Republicans who voted for her, and not just assume they were going to cast their ballots for him.

Generally, Trump has something to say when a high-profile Republican votes for him. That wasn’t the case with Haley. The next day, Trump held a rally in the Bronx, in New York City, and didn’t mention the former governor a single time. He also didn’t say anything about her in the three dozen posts he shared on Truth Social.

While the former president didn’t have anything to say at first, he eventually made an official response. Trump told News 12 New York that he believes Haley will end up being “on our team” in some capacity as they share a lot of similar thoughts and ideas.

Others had a lot of opinions on Haley’s announcement. Former National Security Advisor John Bolton, who served in the Trump administration, lashed out at Haley in an interview on CNN. He said that if his former colleague wanted to vote for someone with the priorities she mentioned, “That’s not [Trump’s] record in office.”

Others attacked her online as well. Although she’s taking the heat for her endorsement, it did prove one thing: Trump still holds the GOP firmly in his hand.
